  • A Team Netball vs Brookfield

    Won 9-2

It was a confident and extremely positive last league game for the A team on Monday!

After going a goal behind in the first quarter they kept their heads and had soon taken a 2-1 lead. As they settled, their use of space across the court improved and the ball flowed from defence to attack much more easily. They also looked after the ball much better in this game, our attack really combining well, and fewer unforced errors after turnovers gave us lots of opportunities to shoot.

After a few tricky games and disappointing results this helped to remind the team that they are a good squad when they work together and do the basics well and they should be very proud of how they have maintained their resilience to earn this very good win.

Very well done to Paige, Emilia, Macey, Evie, Safiyya, Brooklyn, Hannah and Alba.

    A Team

The A team have shown great resilience in their last two games, showing determination not to give up when the score lines have not been in our favour. A hefty 16-3 defeat against a strong Holy Trinity team could have led to a despondent approach to their match against Foresters but this was not the case. They worked hard throughout, and did particularly well after some positional changes in the second half, to bring the score to 8-3 – with a faster start to the game they could have definitely made this a much closer contest.

The last league game of the season is on Monday vs Brookfield so we hope for a strong end to the term and an enjoyable game!

    B Team

The B team have now completed their season and remain undefeated! A 7-0 win against Holy Trinity followed by an 8-3 win against Foresters saw them continue to demonstrate excellent team play across the court. The development in the quality of their play is so apparent – from footwork to winning turnovers and accurate shooting technique – an excellent set of results that they should be extremely proud of!

Well done for a full season of excellent play to Hei, Carson, Scarlett, Hailey, Alba, Hannah, Neve Aldea and Hanisk.

    Personal Bests Week

This week Years 1-6 have been involved in setting and aiming to improve upon their own personal bests in a variety of activities.

We have discussed how important it can be to focus on improving your own results rather than always comparing your achievements to those of others. By setting yourself personal, smaller, challenging but realistic targets that you can work towards, your progress to your bigger, end goals can be much quicker and much more rewarding! We hope that this is something that the children can apply to many aspects of their school journeys, not just PE.

Through javelin, chest push, standing long jump, speed bounce and FootGolf, the children were able to apply these principles and will revisit their PBs in the summer term to see if they can improve on them even further.

We now look forward to a full individual and inter-house PB programme next term!

The Year 5 and 6 school basketball tournament held at The Phoenix Centre on Thursday, 21st March, marked an exhilarating showcase of skill and sportsmanship. The event, now in its second and final round, brought together young athletes from various schools to compete for glory on the court.

Dorchester Primary School's participation in the tournament was nothing short of remarkable. Out of the eight intense games played, our team emerged victorious in seven, culminating in the honour of lifting the winners' trophy. Their outstanding performance is a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and relentless determination.

Not only did our team excel in their athletic abilities, but they also represented Dorchester Primary School with the utmost pride and respect. Their conduct on and off the court reflected positively on our school's values.

As their coach, I couldn't be prouder of each and every member of the team. Their hard work, perseverance, and sportsmanship have been truly commendable.

On Monday morning, a group of 6 children travelled to Fulham football club training ground to take part in the Fulham Foundation football tournament. In the morning, they visited different stations and took part in various activities ranging from games to talking and sharing about children’s mental health and wellbeing. Then after lunch they competed in a round robin tournament against other local schools, coming out undefeated and getting special praise from the Fulham foundation coaches. Special shout out to Aiya who represented the school in sharing about why her voice matters which is the theme of this year’s children’s mental health week.

Well done to Aiya, Ronnie, Michael, Reggie, Breyer and Tommy.
