Refugee Week

This week, the children have been learning about migrants and refugees as part of National Refugee Week. Through stories, videos, discussions and activities, they have developed a deeper understanding of the challenges many people face when leaving their homes and starting new lives. The children showed great compassion, empathy and maturity as they explored the circumstances, experiences and journeys of migrants and refugees around the world.

In Year 6, we had some particularly meaningful and thoughtful discussions. The children displayed sensitivity, respect and a genuine willingness to understand different perspectives, asking insightful questions and reflecting carefully on what they had learned.

Following their learning, the children expressed their thoughts and feelings through poetry. Here are a couple of the powerful poems they wrote:

We would very much encourage families to continue discussions at home: https://refugeeweek.org/
