It was wonderful to be able to meet all together for the first time this week - we discussed the sort of traits a faith ambassador should have, the roles they will undertake over the year and what is happening soon.

You may well have heard about the incident earlier in the week of Yippy being in a minor car accident whilst doing her incredible job of being our devoted lollipop lady. Yippy is thankfully OK and has subsequently written the following letter to the Dorchester community.
JLT met this week to discuss the latest school issues and areas for improvement.
After introductions and briefly outlining the role of being in JLT, we discussed the following:
- drafting a letter to the governors to request some architectural drawings to be completed based on the requirements voted for and creatively conjured up by our wonderful Dorchester pupils last year
- considering how to ensure all children take more pride in their scrap store play pod tidying up duties
- starting to think about a charitable event to host as JLT
Congratulations to all children who took part in the Maths challenge at Raynes Park high school on Monday - our teams placed 5th and 1st - amazing work!
This article was inspired by Dr. Condie, a child neurologist, who makes an analogy between the teenage brain’s Limbic System, which he compared to Captain Kirk, and the Prefrontal Cortex, which he likened to Mr. Spock. While we liked this comparison as boomers who grew up with Star Trek, we decided to update it with a more current reference that resonates with today’s youth and young parents, using Wolverine for the Limbic System and Professor Xavier for the Prefrontal Cortex. Our goal in this article is to take the science and research and translate it into something that can be understood by most parents, caregivers, educators, and the youth themselves.
