School life during residential week!

By Ishaani

This week was a very busy, very hot, but very enjoyable one for us Year 6 staying back at school.

Monday, 6.7.26

Today, we began to plan, design and craft our Take One Picture projects inspired by the painting ‘A Muse (Calliope?)’ by Cosimo Tura. We had a WHOLE DAY of planning, designing, sticking and sketching to enjoy! The weather was pleasantly warm, although by lunchtime things started to get a little hot and sticky (deodorants out, everybody!)

Tuesday, 7.7.26

Continuing with yesterday’s art, we spent the morning working on it. We now focused on painting, embellishing and tweaking little details. This afternoon we proudly hosted a mini exhibition to display our creations to some Year 5 children and members of SLT. They clearly admired our work! We ended the day with some planning for the Leavers’ Assembly and, of course, Wordle!

Wednesday 8.7.26

Today we began yet another exciting project- planning and designing our very own indoor games! Our aim is to entertain children from Reception across to years 1, 2 and 3. We visited various classes and received their opinions on which games they preferred to play. Then we began to plan our games, get into groups and complete market research to ensure that our products were the best quality they could be. Also to mention that we had a lovely Spanish lesson with Mrs. Butterfield and a very invigorating afternoon of PE!

Thursday 9.7.26

Today we began to build our games. We thoroughly enjoyed constructing them, embellishing them and even trying out some of the others! Customised Snakes and Ladders was a popular choice, while others came up with ideas of their own. Hand fans were all over the place as temperatures continued to keep us inside at lunchtime, chatting with friends and playing many a game. After school, we hosted a formal exhibition; this time to our parents to proudly showcase our artwork from Tuesday. I wasn’t there, but I’m sure they were very proud!

Friday 10.7.26

We spent the morning finishing our games, which looked FABULOUS by the time we finished. Afterwards, we created fun Kahoot games to play with everybody. In the afternoon, it was finally time for our efforts to pay off! Anxiously, we took our completed games down to Reception, Year 1, 2 and 3. We were HUGELY relieved to find out that they were very impressed with us and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

This week was by far one of the most exciting of Year 6, and I’m sure everybody agrees! As we head into the final week of primary school, there will definitely be many memories made… and yet to make.
