Year 5 - What did we learn on NO pens' day?

On Wednesday we had no pen day. We weren't allowed to use pens, pencils, chromebooks or any other writing equipment to record our learning. We used many other strategies to learn, including debate, verbal reasoning and discussions. We focussed really hard on our oracy skills for the whole day. For some of us, we had to learn in a different way to the way we are used to learning. It made us really think about the way we rely on what we record and how we learn. It also made us take into consideration the opinions of our classmates more, as they shared their thinking and we had to develop our skills of compromise. These are all skills for life as we develop as learners in different ways. Next week we will also be learning in another different way, as we turn back the clock to 1865 and enter the world of what it would have been like going to school as a Victorian child.
