Year 1: Why do we remember Mary Anning?

Year 1 have made a fantastic start to the new school year and have settled into their new routines. We have been very proud of how confidently the children have adapted to life in Year 1, showing enthusiasm, curiosity and a real eagerness to learn.
In History, the children began their learning journey by discovering a mysterious trunk filled with clues from the past, including an old bonnet, hammers and real ammonite fossils. They became history detectives, using the objects to make predictions and piece together clues about the life of Mary Anning, a famous fossil hunter from Lyme Regis. They have particularly enjoyed becoming fossil hunters themselves and investigating fossils and artefacts linked to Mary Anning.
