Reception Sports Day​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

It was lovely to see the Reception children out on the field today taking part in their first Dorchester Sports Day – and what a fantastic job they did!

Led by a group of our Year 5 pupils in 6 activities we cheered them on in the Obstacle Race, Bean Bag Throw, Floor is Lava, Sack Race, Egg and Spoon Race and the hotly contested sprint, where we watched some brilliant running from everyone. All the children approached each of the stations so positively and with bags of enthusiasm, really entering into the spirit by cheering on their team mates and encouraging them along. We finished the event with some very entertaining parents and carers races – well done to all the willing runners in those! – and then the Reception children left the field with their Sports Day stickers through a tunnel of Year 5 helpers congratulating them on all their efforts and achievements. The Reception children really shone today, in so many ways, and made it a super occasion for us all!

Thank you to our Year 5 leaders who did a great job throughout, particularly as it was their first sports leadership event in school, and also to all the parents, carers and family members who came along to encourage and support the children so enthusiastically – we were very pleased to welcome you all and look forward to seeing you back again in the future.
