Large Schools Swimming Gala 2026

The Borough Swimming Gala is always a lovely event, lots of fun on the evening and it’s great to see some of our children bringing a different skill set to represent the school.
Our team this year were super-enthusiastic and, it has to be said, were in a really tough competition this year – there were some fantastic swimmers across the Borough taking part. Despite that though, the Dorchester spirit stayed strong throughout – they all swam beautifully and the level of perseverance and determination to do their best in each of their events was apparent to us all, including the family filled spectators’ balcony. They showed brilliant support for each other and were extremely respectful of the other schools and competitors. We may not have come away with quite as many medals as in previous years, although were very close 4th in a few, but the comments from some of our team at the end about how much they had enjoyed themselves being able to take part superseded that in terms of how worthwhile it was entering.
We did have some medal success to also be very proud of though and celebrate – Olive performed brilliantly winning Gold comfortably in the Breaststroke and also silver in the Butterfly – not an event for the fainthearted that’s for sure! She swam amazingly well and the whole team were extremely proud of her!
Well done to all of our team: Teddy, Adam, Tommie, Reuben, Idris, Jasper, Toby, Olive, Hayat Chloe, Anya, Sahasra, Ria, Yanshi, Saarya, Jennevieve
Special thanks also to Marsha and Chloe – one of our alumni swimming team – who did a fantastic job on the night helping with the squad.
