Year 5 & 6 Sports Day 2026

The weather held beautifully for us today – in fact it was almost perfect conditions out on the field today for Sports Day.

The Year 5 and 6 children really pulled together this morning in their Houses to support each other whilst still competing – and there were some really hotly contested races out on the track, that’s for sure!

All the children competed in sprint, hurdles, discus, long jump, shot put and one handed basketball throw events with all their efforts earning points contributing towards their overall House totals. After this carousel of events there was an opportunity, for those who wanted to, to run in some additional track events, a sprint, 1 lap or relay, in front of all of the Year 5 and 6 classes.

There was some great effort on show throughout and the positive attitudes and enthusiasm for taking part really shone through. What was also fantastic to see were the moments of support we saw with children encouraging each other along to aim for their personal bests.

Overall it was a very close competition this year – the closest we’ve had in a while! – but the final results were 1st Elizabeth, 2nd Rashford, 3rd Yippy and 4th Attenborough.

Thank you to all the parents, carers and family members who came along to support the children this morning and also to those who were brave enough to step up to the start line for our annual parents’ and carers’ race, which didn’t disappoint!, and a final well done to all the children for all they achieved this morning.
