Borough Netball Rally

It was a beautiful day for netball and this year’s Borough Netball Rally held at Overton Grange on Saturday proved to be a great morning of netball across the schools.
The Dorchester team was a slightly different line up, so the children hadn’t played together competitively like this before and they were faced with a big challenge having been placed in the top tier group, all their matches being against teams who had finished above them in the recent league.
We knew it would be a hard morning but our aim was to bring our best netball and 100% effort to every match so that we could walk away proud in the knowledge that we couldn’t have done any more today, regardless of the results.
And that the team did.
We had very close matches with Nonsuch and Stanley Park before losing to Cheam Common and St Mary’s who were both ultimately in the final.
There was some great work from our team - footwork was good, we got better in terms of clearing and coming forward for the ball and we defended hard and turned the ball over lots of times in each match.
Dorchester stayed positive throughout, kept their heads in the game and each and every one of our players contributed fully in our matches. I couldn’t have been more pleased with any of them. They represented the school so well and were a pleasure to take to the event.
Well done to Darcey, Ora, Bay, Sophia, Darcy-Mae, Tommie and Mariana.
A big thank you also to one of our ex-pupils, Lily, who came along to help coach the team today.
