    Swimming Gala

It was a hot evening poolside – both in temperature and in the way the Dorchester swimmers performed!

It was a lovely example of support for each and other and encouragement, topped off by a collection of medals won by the end of the Gala!

Such gutsy swims from all our children – from Adam and Kalyna who swam in the Year 4 Freestyle in their first school Gala, to Hailey, Esmee and Harshith who showed what competing for your school is all about with their determination, to Scarlett, Isobel, Paige and Dominic winning a host of silver and bronze medals, through to our gold medallists Lorenzo, Charlotte and Sherry – what a great team effort!

Congratulations to them all for making it a Friday evening we wouldn’t have missed!

    Year 5/6 Borough Athletics

Due to work going on at The David Weir Centre, this year’s Borough Athletics was just open to Year 5 and Year 6 athletes. It was a hot afternoon to be competing, but our Squad of 16 runners and our Team Manager were excellent ambassadors for Dorchester, both with their performances and their conduct throughout the competition.

  • Reception Sports Day Speedy Success

    Published 14/06/24

On Monday, all of the Reception children turned out in their house team shirts and ran, jumped, threw, balanced and persevered exceptionally well in all events! So many smiles, and so many talented young athletes we have! Thanks so much to all parents who came along to support, and of course to all the Reception staff for all the preparation and arranging of children into their various groups, and finally, to Carol for organising the day. It was evident in how happy everyone was that the day was a huge success!

  • An amazing effort!

    Published 14/06/24

After winning the Sutton borough 3 v 3 basketball competition, Dorchester Primary School was invited to represent Sutton in the 2024 London Youth Games, under 11 category, held at the Score Centre in East London.
It was impressive that our team performed so well given they had a tough group and secured a spot in the quarter finals. Although they didn't win, the team had a great experience and it is fantastic that the team was able to showcase their skills and teamwork on a larger stage. Losing by just one point can be frustrating, but it's also a great motivator for future competitions. The fact that the children represented their school and borough with pride is something to be immensely proud of.

I hope DPS continues to do well in future competitions and has many more opportunities to represent their school and community.

  • Year 6 Cricket Competition

    Published 07/06/24

Though the whole team had a fantastic day, and made huge improvements throughout the matches, they did, sadly, lose all three of their games today. It takes real spirit and courage to keep your head up high in circumstances such as these, and huge credit to the team for maintaining their smiles and upbeat attitudes in spite of their match results. Well done to Ronnie, Vihaan, Jack, Jake, Ayush, Hei, Evie and Taylor. Thanks as well to Mr Rayner for being their coach today!

  • Borough Netball Rally

    Published 03/05/24

With a late change of rules for this year’s Borough Rally allowing mixed teams to enter, our squad arrived at the competition having trained but not having played competitively together. You’d never have known! This really was a good example of everyone playing their part and contributing fully to the results by working together as a team and using everyone’s strengths. Across the court everyone defended hard to win turnovers and some composed passing when attacking allowed us many chances at goal.

Unbeaten in the round robin stage, having beaten Stanley Park, Nonsuch, Green Wrythe and Foresters, as winners of our group we faced Holy Trinity in the semi-final – an extremely strong team. It was an exciting game, as semi-finals should be!, and closely fought throughout. On the final whistle Holy Trinity had held their 2-1 lead and moved into the final, going on to win overall.

Dorchester really worked hard in the semi though and to be so close to earning a place in the final with such a narrow defeat shows how well they performed on Saturday and how much they fully deserved their 3rd place overall.

I was extremely proud of them all for their excellent play, determination and sporting approach to the whole competition – it was a fitting end to the competitive netball season for us!

Congratulations to Emilia, Evie, Paige, Hei, Carson, Aldea, Amelie and Alba.

  • A Team Netball vs Brookfield

    Published 27/03/24

    Won 9-2

It was a confident and extremely positive last league game for the A team on Monday!

After going a goal behind in the first quarter they kept their heads and had soon taken a 2-1 lead. As they settled, their use of space across the court improved and the ball flowed from defence to attack much more easily. They also looked after the ball much better in this game, our attack really combining well, and fewer unforced errors after turnovers gave us lots of opportunities to shoot.

After a few tricky games and disappointing results this helped to remind the team that they are a good squad when they work together and do the basics well and they should be very proud of how they have maintained their resilience to earn this very good win.

Very well done to Paige, Emilia, Macey, Evie, Safiyya, Brooklyn, Hannah and Alba.
