Year 4 Why do humans build settlements near the coast?

"Oh we do like to be beside the seaside" is a famous summer song with lots of fun intentions about why it is good to be by the sea. In Geography, we were thinking about how settlements of towns and villages affect the coastline. Sometimes it is not towns but ports that are built for industry. These all affect the use of the coast through tourism and business. This can affect the level of erosion. Which is your favourite coastal place to go to? Maybe you could look for clues of how humans affect the coast next time you visit the seaside.
