Music

At Dorchester, we follow the Charanga scheme of work for Music. These lessons include performing, composing, appraising and appreciating a full genre of styles. Each of the lessons begins with a vocal and body warm up. Each unit is based on a song that the children will learn to sing, sign and perform an accompaniment to.

Sutton Music Service also delivers a series of ukulele lessons to one year group each academic year, that further enhances the musical experience children enjoy at Dorchester.

We offer a range of peripatetic lessons on instruments such as piano, keyboard, guitar, woodwind and recorder, and we are always looking to add instruments to this list.

We have active choirs in both Key Stage 1 and 2, that have enjoyed performing in some of London's main concert venues over the years.
