Spotify – New Parental Controls for Families

Is Your Child Listening Safely on Spotify?
Many children enjoy listening to music, but did you know that Spotify offers parental controls to help families manage what younger listeners can access?
Spotify's standard minimum age is 13, with parental consent required for under-18s. However, younger children can use Spotify through a parent-managed account.
Since July 2026, Spotify has offered parental controls for managed accounts on both free and premium plans.
🎧 What can parents control?
-
🔇 Turn off messaging.
-
🚫 Restrict explicit content.
-
📺 Disable videos and Canvas features.
-
🎶 Block specific artists or tracks.
These settings give parents greater control over their child's listening experience and help make music streaming more age-appropriate.
💜 Our top tip: If your child uses Spotify, check whether they have a managed account and review the available safety settings together.
