Year 5 – What happened during the first Viking invasion on Lindisfarne?

In History, we have been learning about the first Saxon and Viking raids, and reasons why they invaded Britain at all. We have discovered that the land is the wealth that they were looking for – for growing crops as well and mining for precious metals. We have used a version of a story about the first invasion on Lindisfarne to inspire our writing. We have discovered that the religious relics were the target of the raid. This raid would have been brutal and cost many lives. In RE, we have thought about the difference between the words Sorry and Repentance through the story of Jonah and the Great Fish often told at the Jewish festival of Yom Kippur. Indigo class are working hard for their class assembly that they will perform for parents this week.
