Year 3/4 Sports Day

The weather was just about perfect for us today and after the rather unpredictable week we’ve had that really was something to be grateful for!

There was a great atmosphere out on the field and a good number of supporters came along to see all the Year 3 and 4 children competing in 6 track and field events, with everyone’s personal best contributing to their House team’s score. There was some excellent determination and perseverance on show throughout the morning, everyone seemed to absolutely give it their all, and we really enjoyed seeing the support and encouragement the children showed for each other.

As usual, the second part of the event saw lots of the children stepping up to take part in some additional track events – a great opportunity for everyone to get behind their runners and cheer them on to the finish line, but also a chance for those who wanted to run again to challenge themselves even more. The sprint, 1 lap and relay races were fantastic to watch and brought the main event to an exciting close. Well done to all the runners but particularly those who showed great determination to finish their races when things got hard and they just did not give up!

Thanks to the parents and carers who ran in the adults’ races too, providing some great entertainment while we were confirming the final results!

It was a close run competition this year with two teams in joint third – the final results were:

1st Elizabeth

2nd Yippy

3rd Rashford and Attenborough

Congratulations to all our athletes today, they should be extremely proud of their efforts and the important contribution they all made to their team.
