Nursery: What delicious ingredients did you put in your sandwich?
This week in nursery we have continued to focus on the story of Sam’s Sandwich. The children have been developing their understanding of how purposeful marks when drawing or writing need to portray meaning. They all listed the ingredients that they would like to have in a sandwich and we used these as shopping lists to buy the ingredients that they would need. The children then got to ‘read’ their lists to make their sandwiches. They have all developed their fine motor skills when spreading and cutting. We have also been thinking about safety when using knives and why washing our hands is important when making food. For our maths learning we have been exploring the vocabulary of heavy and light. We have been comparing different objects and feeling which objects are heavy or light. We have also been using bucket scales to help us to compare the weight of two objects.
