Safer internet day

Yesterday was Safer Internet Day — a great reminder of how important it is to help our children stay safe, kind and confident online.
Children in primary school are growing up in a digital world. Whether they’re gaming, watching videos, chatting with friends, or completing homework, the internet is a big part of their lives. While it offers amazing opportunities to learn and connect, it’s important that we guide them to use it safely.
Here are a few simple tips for home:
🔒 Talk regularly about online safety – Ask your child what they enjoy doing online and who they talk to. Keep conversations open and judgement-free.
👀 Set parental controls – Use privacy settings and parental controls on devices, apps and games.
📱 Keep devices in shared spaces – Especially for younger children.
💬 Remind them to be kind online – The same rules for kindness apply on screens as they do in real life.
🚩 Encourage them to speak up – If something makes them feel worried, upset or confused, they should tell a trusted adult straight away.
Online safety isn’t just a one-day conversation — it’s something we build together every day. Thank you for your continued support in helping our children become safe, responsible digital citizens.
