Year 5 What makes a healthy meal?

This half-term we have been preparing to make our own Vegetable Bolognese sauce. We have researched what makes a good bolognese sauce and the nutritional value of different ingredients. This week we made our sauce, chopping all the vegetables, being very careful with sharp knives. We had the wonderful aroma of the sauces cooking in the slow cookers in class all day. We were able to take home a jar of the sauce. Many of us enjoyed it with pasta for dinner. Some of us ate it as it was made and others of us added extra ingredients such as minced beef. We learnt a lot about what it takes to prepare a healthy meal with many fresh ingredients, such as aubergine, courgette, celery and tomatoes. Yum!
