Nursery: How can we make a boat for the river?

This week we have had lots of fun joining the rest of the school as we participated in The National Gallery ‘Take One Picture’ project. This project takes one picture from the National Gallery and encourages schools to use it as a stimulus for art learning. We then have the opportunity to enter our artwork for a competition and it may be displayed in the gallery next year. This year the chosen painting is A Regatta on the Grand Canal by Canaletto. The children have all been talking about the painting and what they can see. They have learnt how to make playdough and then made their own playdough boats. We have also made a large river using different apparatus to paint with. The children had lots of fun using mops to spread the blue paint as far as they could. We have also thought about how to mix colours to make different shades of blue. We will be using our large wooden bricks to make the buildings for the side of the river. We cannot wait to show you our finished picture next week!
