Year 2: What are the common map symbols and why are they used?

This week in Geography we investigated the symbols we might find on a map:

Map symbols are used to show landmarks on a map, such as roads, parks, schools or shops. They are pictures instead of words to make it easier to read the map. We use a key to explain what the symbols mean.

We have been enjoying looking at maps in our Geography (and Art) and are looking forward to our trip around Worcester Park so that we can learn more about how to use/ make maps. Please see our Peek at the Week for more details.

Please also find attached the Welcome Meeting slides for anyone who was unable to attend last week. Any questions, feel free to contact Miss Bromley.
