Year 5 - Who were the Vikings and where did they come from?

This week started with Viking day. We learned that Vikings travelled from the Scandinavian countries of Norway, Sweden and Denmark on Longboats. These longboats were made of wood and could be moved by wind in the giant sail or by oars in shallow water. They would use the sail to cover those travelling in the boat during storms. We gathered around the fire to listen to a story from Norse mythology, made jewellery inspired by troll crosses, wrote our names in runes and decorated shields.
