Year 3 & 4 Borough Athletics

What a morning on the track our Year 3 and 4 athletics team had on Wednesday!
This was the first time that our runners had been out to a Borough event on the track and this in itself was a lot to take on.
There were 14 large schools from the Borough in this competition and the events were run with official track rules - there was a lot to contend with and remember for our team but they all did it brilliantly. Our squad comprised of 4 boys and 4 girls in both Year 3 and Year 4 – 2 children from each category ran in the individual sprint event and then we had a mixed relay team, a boys’ relay team and a girls’ relay team for each year group. Every single one of our team ran exceptionally well – we were so impressed watching the way they took on their events and left everything out on the track! – and we also had some outstanding performances within that.
After very exciting sprint finals we are thrilled to congratulate Ellis who was Borough Champion in the Year 3 Boys’ sprint, Sophia who was Borough Champion in the Year 4 Girls’ sprint and Jadon who finished 4th in the Year 3 Boys’ sprint final – narrowly outside the medals. What amazing runs by them all!
But we didn’t finish there – the Year 3 Boys’ Relay team of Jack, Bobbie, Jadon and Ellis also took Gold and the Borough Shield and the Year 4 Girls’ Relay team of Dolly, Jennevieve, Lidiya and Sophia took Bronze, having won their heat convincingly. These were examples of brilliant team work – each of the runners doing their absolute best and combining to achieve something very special!
Every runner earned points for our overall score yesterday and we are very proud to have seen them finish joint 4th overall out of 14 schools which is an absolutely amazing achievement! What a great morning of track events and what a Team Dorchester performance!
Congratulations to Ellis, Jadon, Bobbie, Jack, Genevieve, Phoebe, Eliza, Gabriela, Toby, Blake, Jaxon, Nikiforos, Sophia, Jennevieve, Lidiya and Dolly.
