Year 4 - What is the Water Safety Code?

This week began with an assembly about water safety and what the different flags mean on the beach. Year 4 then had a workshop with Catherine from Sutton Schools Sports Partnership about different types of water and how to survive falling into cold water.

1. Stop and think - Is the ground around safe? If someone is in the water, do not jump in after them. 

2. Stay together - Never go to a place with water alone. Always go with family or friends. 

3. In an emergency, call 999. If you are at the beach, as for the Coastguard. 

4. Float - If you are the one that has fallen into the water, roll onto your back with your head out of the water and float - or slowly tread water.
