Nursery: What is an insect?

This week in Nursery, we have been learning about insects and what makes a good habitat for different minibeasts to live in. We have learnt that not all minibeasts are insects; to be classified as an insect the animal has to have six legs. We have learnt about different insects and we have enjoyed looking for different minibeasts in the outside area. We have also read the book ‘A Good Place’ by Lucy Cousins. In this book, four insects are looking for a good place to live. They need flowers for Bee, leaves for Ladybird, a pond for Dragonfly and dead wood for beetle. We have been trying to create areas in our outside area that will make our garden a good place for insects to live. We have learnt that litter and pollution are not good for insects so we have been learning how to recycle things to look after our planet.
