  • What did your team have to do to make sure you worked well together?

    Year 3 have had another fantastic week learning about how to work alongside each other.  It PE, the children had to muddle themselves into a knot and then work together to 'untangle' themselves.  They also had to move themselves to different positions on the bench without falling off, or knocking anyone off.

  • How long ago did the Stone Age begin?

    Welcome back Year 3!

    We have had a fantastic week in Year 3 and have loved getting to know all the children.  The children have all impressed us with how well they have settled and how well they have bonded in each class. A highlight of the week was in History, where the children created a human timeline of events from the start of the Stone Age, to the Great Fire of London, to England's Women's Football team winning the Euros.

  • What did you learn on our trip to Sutton?

    Year 3 learnt lots on their field trip to Sutton, looking at how the high-street has changed over the years.  The children found a milestone they had never noticed before, walked up the tree-lined street where once there were cars and traffic.  They were fascinated to find out that Sutton has the world's oldest bicycle shop.

  • What are the main festivals celebrated by Buddhists?

    This week in RE, we enjoyed learning about different Buddhist festivals such as Wesak and Parinirvana Day. We then made Wesak lanterns which are traditionally crafted and illuminated during the Vesak festival, symbolise the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and passing, signifying the dispelling of darkness and the spread of light and wisdom.

  • What have you learnt in ukulele lessons this year?

    On Tuesday some of Year 3 went to Fairfield Hall to perform on their ukuleles. We were so proud of how well they did. They were a fantastic representation of the school - well done!!

  • How did you create your drawings on Scratch?

    This week we have been looking at how to create drawings in Scratch using block codes.  We learned how to draw lines with a sprite using an extension block, recentered a sprite to improve the appearance of our projects and how to set up our projects so that they start in the same way each time.

    This week in Science, we looked at what seeds need in order to grow.  We then planted cress seeds in different containers to see which seeds will grow the best.  Which container do you think will be the best for growing cress seeds?

  • What is an expanded noun phrase?

    This week we have been working on our oracy skills and articulating our ideas in clear sentences.  We have been learning to select appropriate adjectives to create expanded noun phrases to unlevel our writing.  Ask us what expanded noun phrases we can remember.

  • How did you make your boat in forest school?

    The children have worked really hard this half term and are ready for a well deserved break.  The children produced some excellent Star Writes and impressed us with the progress they are making with their writing.

    In Forest School, the children created some excellent boats which they were very proud of!

  • What do different plants need to grow in different habitats?

    This week in Science we looked at what different plants need in order to survive.  We then looked at how this can differ based on the habitat they are in.  We learned that desert plants need to be tough to survive the climate and have thick waxy leaves.  We then compared them to rainforest plants which have thin leaves to let the water evaporate easily.  We used the class VR headsets to see how the plants looked different.

  • What did we learn about VE Day?

    The children all enjoyed participating in creating a whole school Union Jack to celebrate VE Day.  Do checkout the aerial view on our social media pages to see the final results.  We then spent some time in class learning about the day.  On Friday, Orange Class had their class assembly.  Well done to all the children for sharing their learning and speaking clearly.

  • How does water travel through plants?

    Published 01/05/25

    This week the children really enjoyed learning about how water travels up through a plant.  We set up a science experiment to see if changing the colour of the water would impact the plant and demonstrate how the water travelled.  We're excited to see what happens next week!
