Dear Dorchester Families

We had a wonderful experience yesterday creating our drone Union Jack flag images on the playground - the children loved watching the video this morning in assembly.  The thing that surprised us most is how little space the children take up when they are all standing - everyone who saw our chalk template thought we'd never get 500 people in there - but we did it!  Thanks to our Year 6 mathematicians who worked out the dimensions of the flag and the proportions of children who needed to wear each colour to make the plan work.  A big thank you too to Mr Law for giving up his time to pilot the drone for us.

We have had some concerned residents contact the school again about parents parking across driveways on the streets surrounding the school.  Please do not do this - everyone is busy and often in a rush but we need to consider our neighbours.  More seriously still, one neighbour has reported a parent being particularly abusive when asked to move their car; this clearly does not reflect our school values nor set a good example to our children.  Of course we are talking about a tiny number of parents here ; thank you to the majority who always park with courtesy to others.

Have a great weekend.

Kind regards

Cathy Bell
Headteacher
