Dear Dorchester Families,

Thank you for your enthusiasm in supporting World Book Day 2025.  The children, and staff, looked amazing in their costumes and it was lovely to see school filled with such a variety of favourite book characters.  Whilst dressing up is lots of fun, and helps to make the day memorable for the children, the real purpose of World Book Day is far more important - encouraging a love of reading in our children.  The children enjoy lots of activities around developing this in school - but it is an area where your support at home can really make a difference too.  This year's theme is 'Read Your Way' and it aims to support families to move away from the idea that reading is 'work' - you can find a range of fun activities to try with your children - particularly those who are more reluctant readers - here. 

We are looking forward to our first (at least for many years) FODS Quiz Night this evening.  Thank you to everyone who has signed up to come along, and to our wonderful FODS committee for all their organisation of what is sure to be a great evening.

Friday 21^st March will be a non-uniform day in exchange for a donation to the mothers day shop, the shop will be the following week on Thursday 27^th & Friday 28^th March. £2 per child, payable on gateway. All children who have paid will be taken to the shop during the school day to select a gift of their choice. Please see posters for all details. Thank you for your continued support and donations.
