Dear Dorchester Families,

Huge credit is due to our amazing Year 6 children this week, who came to school on Thursday, while many of their siblings and friends enjoyed an extra day off for Polling Day.  We were so impressed with them!  During the day, they showed they were able to follow a timetable, getting themselves to the correct room at the right time for their lessons.  They made the most of every opportunity to learn - and they have said that being in small groups with lots of teachers really helped them to boost their confidence in areas where they needed some additional input, and they enjoyed a more high school approach to lunch, selecting their sandwiches, salads and drinks - the sweets and ice lollies were popular too!

They discovered that they love having music outside at playtime - there was a lot of dancing!; they threw themselves into their PE lessons and sang their production songs with gusto.  They also loved turning their hands to Djembe drumming.

It was so lovely to have such positive feedback about the day - and the children have certainly proved that they are (very nearly at least....) High School ready.

Enjoy the long weekend.

What was your favourite part of the Year 6 Revision Day (Polling Day)?
The Year 6 children loved their revision day with their very own personalised timetable to complete, which guided them through the day. They had lessons in Reading, Maths, SPAG, Music and PE and many commented that it was a taster of what high school would be like.
