Keeping children safe around food

You may have heard of Benedict’s Law, which has brought greater attention to allergy safety in schools. We all have a part to play in keeping children safe.

Please remind your child not to share or swap snacks or other food with friends. We also ask everyone to follow our no nuts policy when preparing food to bring into school. If your child’s class is going to use or sample food as part of a lesson or activity, please read the email from their teacher and respond when asked. Your reply helps us check that the activity is safe for everyone.

We also ask that you do not send edible treats for the class on your child’s birthday, as we are not able to give them out. A lovely alternative is a birthday book for the class bookshelf. We add a special bookplate recording who donated it and which birthday they were celebrating. Children love discovering these books, and younger siblings sometimes find their brother’s or sister’s book years later! If you would like help choosing a suitable book, please speak to your child’s teacher.

A big well done to Amethyst Class for their wonderful assembly this morning. They shared an impressive amount of learning from just the first few weeks of term. Thank you to the children and staff for such a lovely start to our Friday.
