Dear Dorchester Families,
We couldn't let this week go by without an assembly themed around the FIFA Men's World Cup, which Mr Dennis led yesterday and bravely concluded with a rousing chorus of Sweet Caroline!
One of the things we love about major sporting events is their ability to bring people together. Whether children are following football, cricket, ice hockey, athletics or another sport entirely, these occasions remind us of the values that sit at the heart of great teams and communities: perseverance, respect, responsibility and working together towards a common goal. They also provide opportunities for important conversations about sportsmanship, dealing with success and disappointment, and showing respect to opponents and officials. We encourage families to enjoy these moments together whilst, given the inconvenient timing of many of the matches, remembering the importance of a good night's sleep for children during the school week!
Talking of teamwork, a massive well done to our choir, who took part in the Sutton Sings event this week and performed brilliantly. Despite being smaller in number than many of the other choirs attending, they sang with such confidence that a listener would never have known. They also represented the school superbly, working together and demonstrating our values through their conduct throughout the event.
Good luck to all our children who are participating in the Swimming Gala later this afternoon. It is always a fantastic event and we look forward to hearing how they get on.
Remember that the Summer Fair is rapidly approaching. This is always a wonderful occasion and one that relies on the support of our school community. In fact, we simply couldn't do it without you. Please take a look at the information below and consider volunteering if you are able. Our children love seeing their parents and carers helping on the stalls, and it is a great opportunity to give something back to the community. Thank you in advance for any support you can offer.
Enjoy the weekend.
