Dear Dorchester Families,
I hope you managed to get out and enjoy the wonderful weather over the half-term break. The weather gods were certainly on our side this morning, as the rain cleared just in time for our Year 3 and 4 Sports Day. Our children were a credit to the school, not only in the way they participated in the activities, often showing great resilience and determination, but also in the fantastic support they gave to one another throughout the event. Congratulations to Elizabeth House, who came away with the team trophy, and thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us to cheer the children on.
Make sure you read the article below about the nail-biting Top of the Form final that took place here yesterday. Our team demonstrated tremendous resilience and determination, refusing to give up even when they found themselves behind on the scoreboard. They showed exactly what can be achieved through teamwork, perseverance and a positive mental attitude.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed getting their teeth into their new topics this week. Do take a look at your year group's Peek of the Week to find out more about what they have been learning and what is coming up over the half term ahead. When families take an interest in children's learning and encourage them to talk about it at home, it helps to deepen their understanding and strengthens their ability to remember what they have learned. Why not ask your child, "What was the most interesting thing you learned this week?" or "What are you most looking forward to learning next?" You may be surprised by the conversations that follow.
Enjoy the weekend.
