Dear Dorchester Families,

Welcome to the summer term!  We hope you had a wonderful break and made the most of the bits of sunshine that we had over the holiday.

At the beginning of each term, I meet with class teachers and year leads to discuss the academic progress of all the children in school, from Early Years right the way through to Year 6. It is always heartening to see so many children making such strides in their learning, showing such mature learning behaviours for their age and growing in confidence as a result.  Well done children!

We have a busy term ahead, with Year 5 and 6 residential visits, sports days, the Maths Quiz Club finals at Oxford University, the UKMT Maths Challenge, the Top of the Form semi-finals, the netball borough rally and the London Mini Marathon to name a few, as well as the regular business of teaching and learning.  Do keep an eye on the newsletters and on the School Gateway app for any dates and messages relevant to your child/ren.

Yesterday, families received their offers for places for Reception 2026.  We are delighted to have so many siblings and new families joining our Dorchester community.  We do have a few places remaining, so if you know anyone who is looking for a school place for their child for Reception 2026, please encourage them to make an appointment with the office to visit us and find out more about all that we offer.

Thank you to everyone on the FODS team who have worked so hard in organising tonight's Quiz Night.  I know it will be a fun-filled evening and I look forward to seeing lots of you there later.  Although it's been such a busy week I'm not sure my brain will be up to actually answering any questions.....

Have a great weekend.
