Dear Dorchester Families

It has been a fantastically busy first week of Spring 2 – and hasn’t it been wonderful to see so many signs of Spring around us.  This week our Junior Choir have sung at the O2 arena as part of Young Voices, an amazing massed choir event.  The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part and represented their school perfectly – it’s when you are in a huge arena surrounded by other schools that you really notice how brilliantly our children listen and do as they are asked to do – with bucket-loads of enthusiasm too.  Parents, friends and family members loved the show too – a great night out for everyone!  Do read the news article below to find out more about this event – and if your child (in years 2-5) would like to take part next year, encourage them to join our Junior Choir in September.

This week has also seen an Ancient Egyptian Day, the first match for our Year 5 football team, an A Team netball match, a Racket Festival for children in Years 3 and 4, and the semi-final of the Quiz Club Maths Challenge – with our mathematicians once again performing superbly against some stiff opposition.  We also loved our assembly this morning, when Amber Class shared all they have learnt about Ancient Egypt, even demonstrating mummification beautifully using some clever work with shadows.

Alongside all this, the regular curriculum continues – including a number of Year 5 children who have produced some very impressive projects on their science topic of Space.

It’s no wonder that this week has flown by!  We definitely need a rest this weekend!

Netball vs Green Wrythe
Lost 5-1 The score line doesn’t really reflect what a back and forth game this was and how close it was for much of the match. Dorchester were 2-1 down at half time and Green Wrythe pulled ahead in the second half simply by effectively converting the chances they had. They were ve...
