Dear Dorchester Families
It has been another wonderfully busy and enriching week at school as we approach the end of the half-term, marking the midway point in the academic year.
On Tuesday we marked Safer Internet Day, spending time in classes discussing how to stay safe, respectful and responsible online. Technology plays such a significant part in children’s lives, and we are grateful for your support in helping them navigate the online world safely and confidently.
We were also treated to a delightful Tea Time Concert this week. Our Junior Choir, recorder group and talented soloists performed beautifully and with great confidence. It was a joy to see their hard work come together in such a special performance – thank you to everyone who took part and to the families who came along to support them.
Today Year 2 rounded off their topic on China with a fantastic ‘Wow Day’. The children looked brilliant dressed in red and fully embraced the experience, including tasting a range of Chinese foods. To add to the celebrations ahead of Chinese New Year next week, our Faith and Culture Ambassadors hid red envelopes around the playground with special messages inside for children to discover. We are also extremely grateful to one of our Chinese parents who kindly provided a delicious Chinese lunch for staff – such a generous gesture and very much appreciated. Thank you.
Looking ahead, Ramadan is expected to begin next week. This is a very special and reflective time for many of our families, and we wish all those observing it a peaceful and blessed month ahead.
As we reach the end of the half-term, I would like to thank you all for your continued support. The partnership between home and school makes such a difference to the children’s experience and success, and we recognise how fortunate we are to have so many parents who support our school community.
We hope you all have a restful and enjoyable half-term break. A reminder that our Willow Club Holiday Club will be running on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week – please see the details later in this newsletter if you would like to book a place.
