Dear Dorchester Families,

It's hard to believe another academic year is drawing to a close.  It was an emotional farewell for our amazing Year 6 children at their Leavers' Assembly this morning as they shared their memories of their time at Dorchester - they have taken so much from their time here and are absolutely ready to spread their wings and make the most of all the opportunities High School will offer them.  We are sad to be saying goodbye to a number of families whose youngest child is moving on this year - and a special shout out needs to go to the Bulbrook family, who have been part of our school community for a total of 22 years - with the last of their 6 children leaving today.  That's quite an innings!

As ever at this time of year, we have received some wonderful messages from parents, carers and children, often highlighting the difference that Dorchester Primary has made in their children's lives.  Thank you to everyone who has taken time to write a card or send an email - it can be hard working in schools, but for staff, knowing that they make the difference that they hope they do, means the world.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in our school community - all the staff at school and everyone who has volunteered - in class, on trips, giving lifts to sports events, for FODS, those who have supported financially, or who have helped in any other capacity.  We are so grateful for everyone's support as it enables  us to offer the best possible opportunities for our children.  And finally, a huge thank you and well done to our children, who have once again shown what a brilliant, resilient and empathetic group they are - we look forward to seeing them in September, excited and ready for another year of learning.

Have a fantastic summer.

Cathy Bell

As this year draws to a close, the FODS team wanted to say a massive thank you to all involved in raising a fantastic amount of money for our school.

Some of the committee will be stepping down at the AGM in September after many years of tenure. This will be a fabulous opportunity for others to join. Please do consider getting involved whether you are new to the school community or have been with DPS for a little while. All super welcome!

Being part of the committee is a lovely way of getting to know the school better, being really involved and having your say in the FODS events, learning new skills and making friends for life!

All positions are re-elected each year and the positions where the current post holder will not be standing for re-election in September are Secretary, Treasurer and Events Lead. These roles can be carried out by an individual or by a team of 2 or more.

More information on some of the committee roles can be found here:
https://www.parentkind.org.uk/about-us/news-and-blogs/blog/quick-guide-to-pta-roles#

All the current committee members are available on email at dorchesterpta@gmail.com to discuss their roles and answer any of your questions.

We're so excited to announce that the Summer Fair raised an amazing £2900! What an incredible amount raised for the school, especially considering we had a very wet start to the fair! A massive thank you once again to all involved & everyone who came along on the day. We hope everyone has a lovely Summer, watch this space for all the exciting events once we’re back in September!
