25th April 2025

Dear Dorchester Families,

It has been a wonderful first week of the summer term - although it was only four days, we have managed to cram so much into it, and the children have returned to school refreshed and looking forward to a new term of learning.

All things London Marathon related have dominated this week - a big thank you to all the children and parents who joined in with our MaraFUN event after school on Thursday.  Those attending ran over three full marathons between them - quite an achievement!  A special mention must go to Aria in Nursery who completed 7 laps - and still didn't want to stop - definitely a candidate for District Sports in the future.

We have 25 children participating in the Mini-Marathon tomorrow, running a mile of the London Marathon route, starting at Horse Guards Parade and finishing on The Mall.  Our runners will set off at 2:15pm, so if you are around and about in London please do come along and give them a cheer.

Thank you for all your good wishes for the marathon on Sunday - the 'shout-outs' the children wrote for me at the Mara-FUN are just lovely - and I have a photo of them to look at when I feel my motivation waning.  A few parents have asked for my bib number, which is 58508, so you can look out for me - or follow my progress on the London Marathon 2025 App.  My start time is 10:35-10:39.

If you would like to make a donation to FODS to improve our active playtimes for children at school in recognition of our marathon participation (mine and the children's) you can donate at https://www.gofundme.com/f/dorchester-marafun-mini-marathon-and-london-marathon

Have a great weekend.

Kind regards

Cathy Bell
