23rd February 2024

Dear Dorchester Families,

It has been lovely to welcome the children back to school following the half term break this week, and to hear about all their holiday adventures.

We have had two visitors to assemblies this week; on Monday, Rev Hannah from Christ Church with St Philip joined us to talk to the children about the Christian season of Lent, and on Tuesday, Nabhi from the London Institute of Vedic Education, joined us to share the reasons why the Hindu festival of Holi (which falls on 25th March) is so important in Hinduism - apologies to those parents whose children came home with uniforms liberally covered in coloured powders!  It is great that our children have so many opportunities to learn about each others' faiths - lets hope it results in greater understanding and tolerance in the future than we see in our world today.

Our FODS committee have been hard at work getting events for the rest of the school year planned.  The Mothers' Day shop will be up and running as usual in early March, and they are also starting to think about the Summer Fair, which will be held on 29th June - please get the date marked in your diary so that you can do your bit to help ourt and come to the Fair.

Remember that next week we have two consecutive non-uniform days.  On Thursday we have our Inclusion Day, which celebrates the unique individuals who make up our amazing, caring community and on Friday we have a non-uniform day in exchange for bringing in a gift for the Mothers' Day shop - see the FODS News section below for more information about suitable donations.

Have a great weekend.
