Dear Dorchester Families,

Hasn't it been lovely to see such glorious sunshine this week?  Although I think that might be it for the immediate future (let's hope not!), it serves as a good time to remind parents, carers and children that, during sunny weather, children must come to school with sun cream already applied and with a sun hat – preferably with a brim all round that shades the neck.  A reminder also to make sure that all clothes are labelled with your child's name – many layers are being shed on the playground at the moment – and if your child's jumper or cardigan has a name in it, it will get back to them.

We had a fabulous day on Saturday last week at the TCS Mini London Marathon for schools.  Our team represented their school brilliantly and gave it their all, and all the training they have done really showed and it was lovely to see them proudly wearing their medals to school on Monday to celebrate with the school community.

Another week, another maths challenge for our older children, 50 of whom participated in the UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge this week.  This competition is designed for children in Year 8 and below, and really encourages deep thinking.  We will share the children's results with you when we have them – but in the meantime, below are a couple of questions they faced  for anyone who fancies challenging themselves over the long weekend!

Remember that school is closed on Monday for the Early May Bank Holiday and will also be closed to all year groups except Year 6 on Thursday next week, as the building will be used as a Polling Station in the Local Elections.

Please note the change of date for Rose Class assembly – This is now on Friday 15th May.

Enjoy the long weekend.
