Dear Dorchester Families
What a treat it was to enjoy the Christmas Fair last week! The volunteers at set up might have been low in number, but they really made up for it in enthusiasm, despite several challenges like a broken pop corn machine and even no electricity for part of the morning, they pulled it off brilliantly. Heartfelt thanks go to everyone who helped out either setting up, running a stall or clearing down, and to everyone who donated a hamper item, bottle, toy etc. And, of course a big thank you to the many people who came along and enjoyed the day. Events like this prove a great reminder of just what a fantastic community we have at Dorchester – well done to everyone involved.
Unsurprisingly, there is lots going on at the end of term. We are looking forward to seeing the EYFS and Year 2 Nativity performances over the next couple of weeks and once again sharing the magic of the Christmas Story. The tickets for Yippy’s Christmas Raffle also go on sale next week, so please remember to bring cash (£1 per strip of tickets) if your child would like to enter. Christmas lunch is on Wednesday – the form needs to be completed for all children, so if you have not completed it yet, please do so, as it really helps us to know which option each child would like.
The children’s learning continues through this busy time of year, and they have lots to be proud of – my Headteacher awards have been in very high demand this week as there has been so much excellent work going on, and it was lovely to hear about all the Geography work that has been going on in Orange Class during their Class Assembly this morning.
Tomorrow (Saturday 6th December) our junior choir will be singing an array of festive tunes as the Christmas lights are switched on at The Hamptons. All are welcome to attend, so if you fancy some mulled wine and a dollop of festive cheer, then do come along and support the choir at 5pm. It is always a lovely event to be part of, and we are really grateful to the team at The Hamptons for inviting us again.
Enjoy the weekend.
