12th September 2025

Dear Dorchester Families,

We have had another wonderful week in school, with children embracing their new learning with enthusiasm.  As I mentioned last week, we have some exciting work going on in the playground, which started this week with the removal of some trees, which the children thoroughly enjoyed watching – although there was some disappointment that the tree surgeons didn't shout 'Timber'!

Following a bidding process, we have been awarded a substantial grant, which, along with a contribution from FODS (Friends of Dorchester School PTA) will be used to refresh the trim trail area of the main school playground.  This will offer a greater variety of play opportunities for our children, who were very excited to see the images during assembly on Monday.  The image below gives you an idea of what the new area will look like.

If you want to do your bit to contribute to the work of our wonderful FODS group, or just want to find out more about our events and plans for this academic year, do come along to our FODS AGM on Tuesday 16th September at 6:30pm at school - please come to the main entrance and you will be directed to the meeting room.  I look forward to seeing you there.

Have a lovely weekend.

Cathy Bell
Headteacher

You may have seen on social media or been told by your child, that work on a new area of the playground has started. Thanks to a generous grant, and ongoing fundraising by us, our school has been able to ensure the children have amazing resources, not only in the classrooms but in all outside areas too.

We can only do this with your support, FODS needs new members and regular support in order to allow us to keep supporting our school. Please try to attend our annual AGM - This is a chance to show everyone what we have achieved over the last year and our future plans. We warmly invite everyone to attend on Tuesday 16th September at 6.30pm - held at Dorchester Primary School  - Wine and Nibbles provided!
