4th July 2025

Dear Dorchester Families,

Well - this week I definitely need to open with the triumph that was the Year 6 production of 'School of Pop' that the children in school and Year 6 parents and family members had the pleasure of watching this week.  The story line was around a Barry Garlow - who had once been a famous pop star - taking over as a Year 6 teacher.  The production was full of laughter and tears - not only because of the jokes and 'Take That' references; it was truly uplifting to see the way the children worked together, built each other up, had each others' backs and celebrated with each other.  Just how we want our Year 6 children to be - well done to all involved.

Many of our Year 6 children headed off to their High School induction days this week too - it is lovely to see them embracing this and being ready to move on.  We are looking forward to sharing more adventures with them on our residential visit to Dorset next week.

Four of our budding mathematicians are visiting Oxford University today, where they are taking part in the final of the Maths Quiz Club competition, after successes in the area and regional rounds.  Keep a look out in next week's newsletter to find out about their day.

We are really excited for our summer fair tomorrow which runs from 12pm-3pm.  As ever, it will be filled with fun activities for children and adults - see the FODS information below for more information.  The Fair takes a lot of organising and we are so grateful to our FODS volunteers for the collective hours of work it has taken to make sure everyone can have a brilliant time.

See you at the Fair.
