Which elements of the D&T pop up book mechanisms project did you find most challenging and why?

This week, Year 5 have been working really hard on their DT projects, which is making pop up books with working mechanisms. The children  have written their own versions of classic nursery rhymes, but with several interactive elements such as levers, sliders and foldable pop out graphics. In English, the children have been so unbelievably proud of their star writes – they have all written their own final chapter for Me, My Dad and the end of the Rainbow, with some extremely beautiful figurative language being used, reflecting the superb language used in the book by the author. In Maths, we have been continuing with fractions, decimals and percentages  - using problem-solving, comparing these and finding equivalents too. In Science, we have been learning about how water can be used as a renewable energy resource and how we can responsibly make use of sustainable power. From all of the Year 5 team, we hope you have a safe and restful Easter break.
