But why can't I? By Sue Graves

Why do we need rules?

This week in Reception we have been reading the story 'But why can't I?' by Sue Graves. In this story a little boy questions all the rules that adults teach him. He then has to learn the consequences for his actions, for example when he doesn't want to go to bed on time he wakes up very tired the next day and doesn't have any energy. We have been learning about rules and the importance of following them. We have also been learning about how to be a kind friend. We have made friendship bracelets and medals to give to our friends to show that we appreciate them. We have also written letters to our friends using our phonics to write them.  In Maths, we have been learning about the number zero and what it means. We also compared quantities using the vocabulary of 'more than', 'the same' as and 'fewer than'.
