We can be superheroes too!

What foods do you eat to stay healthy and be a superhero?

This week the children in Reception have been learning about healthy food. We have talked about all the different foods that we eat to build our muscles and strengthen our bones so that we can all grow up to be superheroes! At the beginning of the week we looked at a recipe for a pasta salad and wrote the ingredients that we wanted to include. Then on Wednesday we made our own salads, following a recipe. We chopped our own cucumbers, peppers, cheese and tomatoes, which we mixed with pasta and sweetcorn. We loved eating them! In maths we learnt about 1 more and 1 less while singing the Nursery Rhyme, 5 currant buns. We watched as the number of buns decreased 1, while the number of pennies increased by 1. We imagined ourselves as superheroes and, using photos of our faces, invented our own superhero costumes. To top of a very active week, on Friday we met some real reindeer who came to visit us at school before going to Lapland to help Father Christmas in the holidays.
